Benefits Strategy & Administration
Develop and manage benefits programs, including health insurance, retirement plans, leave policies, wellness initiatives, and other employee perks.
Evaluate and recommend enhancements to benefits offerings to maintain competitive positioning in the market.
Lead annual benefits enrollment, including communications, system configuration, and vendor coordination.
Compliance & Vendor Management
Ensure all benefits programs comply with federal, state, and local regulations, including ERISA, HIPAA, COBRA, ACA, and FMLA.
Manage relationships with benefits vendors, brokers, and third-party administrators, ensuring high-quality service and cost-effective plans.
Oversee benefits audits, reporting, and compliance filings such as 5500s.
Employee Support & Engagement
Serve as the main point of contact for employees regarding benefits-related inquiries and issues.
Develop and implement employee education initiatives to maximize benefits understanding and utilization.
Handle complex benefits escalations and collaborate with HR leadership on solutions.
Data Analysis & Cost Management
Analyze benefits utilization, cost trends, and industry benchmarks to provide recommendations on plan design and cost-control strategies.
Partner with Finance and HR leadership to develop and manage the benefits budget.
Leadership & Collaboration
Act as a key advisor to HR leadership and executive management on benefits-related matters.
Collaborate with Payroll, HRIS, and Legal teams to ensure seamless administration of benefits programs.
Lead and develop a small team responsible for benefits administration and compliance.
Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field.
7+ years of progressive benefits experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
Strong knowledge of benefits laws and regulations (ERISA, ACA, COBRA, HIPAA, FMLA, etc.).
Experience managing benefits for a large, multi-state workforce preferred.
Proven ability to work with vendors, negotiate contracts, and oversee open enrollment processes.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and project management skills.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage employees at all levels.
Experience with HRIS and benefits administration systems (Workday, ADP, etc.) is a plus.
Certified Employee Benefits Specialist (CEBS) or similar designation is preferred.
Physical Requirements:
Must be able to sit for extended periods at a desk computer station
May be required to stand for limited periods of time to present for groups
Limited walking, pushing, pulling, or reaching expected for this role
