The HR Specialist is responsible for administrative human resources and operations related activity in support of Lucasfilm and will be the liaison between Lucasfilm, ILM and Disney HR COE teams. This will include, but is not limited to, data analysis, data audits, reporting, administrative transactions, program administration, and other HR services as assigned.
This role requires the employee to work primarily onsite in our San Francisco office and occasionally from home.
What You’ll Do
- Acts as first point-of-contact for general employee and management inquiries re: HR services, policies, and processes.
- Creates various reports and analyze data using various databases, HRIS, and software applications
- Performs regular audits on employee data and assess data for clean up and issue resolution
- Identifies process improvement opportunities and clearly documents and communicates changes
- Coordinates day-to-day personnel changes including using various systems to update information, communicate changes, and direct HRIS in processing the changes. Flag important changes to the finance team when necessary.
- Works with members of the overall HR team in order to effectively tackle problems and proactively identify areas for improvement.
- Facilitates onboarding for new employees; partners with Talent Acquisition and People Development team for onboarding new employees into Lucasfilm and Disney systems. Conducts New Hire Orientation meetings when needed.
- Facilitates the exit process for outgoing employees including data tracking, reporting, paperwork preparation, scheduling and conducting exit interviews, and collecting equipment. Maintains weekly exit reports and proactively communicates leavers to other partners.
- Maintains solid understanding of the employee handbook to interpret situations, make decisions, and advise management and employees as appropriate.
- Facilitate Worker’s Compensation claims. Meet with employees to intake information, provide Workers’ Compensation medical facility information, and submit paperwork to vendors.
- Performs special projects as needed on an on-going basis.
Required Qualifications & Skills
- 3+ years of HR experience working in a fast-paced environment
- Strong service orientation, preferably in a creative, production or entertainment industry environment.
- Demonstrates passion for HR Operations-type work
- Excellent Microsoft Excel skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent time management and prioritization skills
- Solid understanding of Federal and California labor law
- Previous experience working for a large company and/or a creative environment preferred
- Strong Google Suite (Docs, Sheets, Slides), HRIS systems (i.e. SAP / Workday) and database knowledge preferred
- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential situations effectively and professionally
Education
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
The hiring range for this position in San Francisco is $64,300-$86,100 per year. The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and also may vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. A bonus and/or long-term incentive units may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to the full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
