POSITION SUMMARY
Individually and in consultation with other members of ECRI and the Aging Services team, the Consultant - Aging Services (the "Consultant") develops materials for risk, quality, and safety consultation, provides education, as directed, and online products for aging services and other ECRI clients. Conducts site visits and prepares reports of findings in a timely manner. Prepares materials and presents to clients during visits, teleconferences, webinars, onsite education, and other events as assigned. Responds to client services and consultation queries. Ensures timeliness, quality, and accuracy of work product fostering ECRIs mission in fulfilling job duties.
Responsible for the on-going review and assessment of provider organizations via on-site assessments of their risk management programs and high-risk areas of the organizations.
Due to the amount of business travel required, the Consultant must live within 60 miles of a major U.S. airport and/or be able to drive to the Southcentral and/or Southeastern regions of Pennsylvania, as needed.

Essential Functions:

Researches, develops, and provides implementation strategies for risk management, risk mitigation, risk reduction, and culture of safety techniques.

Develops materials for distribution, education, and consultation, in collaboration with ECRI and outside experts, as assigned.

Conducts onsite risk management assessments of provider organizations and prepares reports of findings in a timely manner.
-
Reviews and facilitates responses to site visits. Provides feedback and guidance to clients in the development of systems-based strategies to address identified recommendations.

Participates in updating risk, quality, and safety assessment tools that reflect the current issues and environment of care in aging services provider organizations.

Provides onsite consultation and/or education during assessments to boards of directors, executive leadership, management, and staff to assist in the implementation of specific risk management and culture-of-safety strategies to promote safe, effective, and efficient care.

Develops and imparts educational materials for teleconferences, onsite education sessions and webinars, as assigned.
-
Provides guidance to clients for implementation strategies of suggested practices, including those found in toolkits. Provides guidance in a collaborative and consultative manner.

Provides e-mail and telephone consultation to provider organizations and other clients, as assigned, including Member or client provider organization virtual conference calls to provide topic specific consultative services.

Assists in selection of material for risk management publications, including e-news, newsletters, risk analyses, and risk management websites.

Assists with queries/consultation calls and consulting projects, as assigned.

Develops specialized knowledge in legal, regulatory, clinical, and other areas of healthcare risk management throughout the aging services continuum.

Assists in identifying and developing new products and services.
Additional Responsibilities:

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience:
-
3 - 5 years of healthcare safety, quality, or risk management experience in aging services is strongly preferred.

Healthcare management, clinical, human services, and/or related background is required.
-
Must have experience in culture of safety and quality improvement tools/resources.
-
Experience with culture of safety investigative techniques (e.g., root cause analysis, FMEA, risk identification and assessment, and primary investigation) is preferred.
-
Ability to understand a wide range of legal, regulatory, and clinical risk management issues that are pertinent to continuing care/aging services and healthcare risk managers.
-
Ability to provide consultative services to continuing care/aging services risk managers, administrators, and executives.
-
Ability to support the development and delivery of learning and education materials.
-
Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels of an organization and to work independently and as a team member to deliver appropriate services and products for clients.

Advanced oral and written communication skills are required.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
This position operates in a remote environment and requires the individual to remain in a stationary position, whether sitting or standing, before a desk or other fixed workspace, most of their workday. In addition, this position requires the individual to occasionally move about their workspace to access and inspect work-related materials, such as file cabinets with physical files and standard office equipment. This position requires the ability to operate standard office equipment, including, but not limited to, a laptop, keyboard, mouse, webcam, and phone, as well as effectively communicate information and ideas to a wide variety of audiences in written and oral form.
