Job Summary
The Benefits Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, maintaining, and evaluating benefits programs to meet business needs while complying with legal requirements. This position oversees the administration of global employee benefit plans including but not limited to health, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, paid time off programs, wellness initiatives, and other programs designed to support employees’ physical, mental, financial, and emotional well-being. The Benefits Manager serves as the primary liaison between brokers/consultants and HR on all things related to benefits and compliance matters.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements strategies to attract, retain, motivate, and reward employees through various types of compensation and benefits programs
- Manages day-to-day operations of benefits programs including eligibility, enrollment, communications, and compliance
- Monitors plan utilization and cost trends and recommends changes where appropriate
- Partners with brokers/consultants and third party administrators (TPAs) to provide direction in administering benefit plans; ensures timely resolution of issues related to benefit plans
- Ensures adherence to relevant laws and regulations
- Reviews plan documents regularly and keeps up to date with any legislative or regulatory changes
- Works closely with Payroll partners regarding accuracy of deductions and credits pertaining to benefits plans
- Administers claims processing and payment, including COBRA and FMLA
- Provides data and analysis to senior management regarding program effectiveness
- Assists with budget preparation by forecasting costs associated with benefit plans
- Develops communication materials and presents information on new programs, policies, procedures, and practices
- Serves as the primary contact for employees concerning benefits questions and concerns
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree required; Master’s degree preferred
- 8+ years of experience of directly managing employee benefits
- Strong knowledge of employee benefits laws and regulations such as ERISA, ACA, HIPAA, COBRA, FLSA, etc.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously against tight deadlines
- Highly organized with attention to detail and ability to work independently
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external clients, brokers, consultants, vendors, and third party administrators
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
- Experience using Workday and Cornerstone OnDemand highly desired
