The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Benefits Director based in Dallas, TX, at our National Center office.

This position will work in a hybrid setting (in the office 1-2 days a week and as needed) in our Dallas office.

Responsibilities

In this role, you will be responsible for leading the Association's Benefits programs that are aligned with the Association's strategy, mission, and workforce trends.

Develops, implements, communicates, and administers the Association’s benefits programs and policies, including health and welfare, retirement, disability, etc.
Identify, analyze, and recommend improvements or changes to benefit programs based on market trends, company strategy, attraction and retention of top talent, cost-effectiveness, and changes in regulations. Proactively maintains a pulse on benefit competitiveness, current market trends, and engagement.
Acts as benefits subject matter expert and key point of contact for complex or escalated benefits questions. Develops and documents benefit programs and information for the Shared Services response center.
Build and implement communication/education programs to improve employees and managers' knowledge, appreciation, and effective use of benefits
Manages vendor relationships with benefits consultants, insurance carriers, and plan administrators
Manages the preparation of information to maintain compliance for health and welfare and retirement plans, including 5500s, SPDs, and other filings.
Maintains benefit programs and guarantees adherence to federal, state, or local laws and regulations

Qualifications

A bachelor’s degree in human resources or equivalent work experience
Minimum Three (3) years’ experience developing and delivering comprehensive health and welfare, leave, retirement, and related benefit programs
Minimum Three (3) years’ experience leading and mentoring benefits staff
Experience, comprehensive knowledge and skills in HRIS systems such as Workday
Ability to work and communicate with all levels of the organization's leadership with a strong collaborative approach
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Strong change management and project management skills
Ambition and ability to work well within a dynamic and growing environment
High attention to detail, customer service oriented, and deadline-driven
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite especially Excel
Proficient with analytics applications such as Google Docs
Demonstrable ability to study, analyze and understand business problems, and generate solutions; motivated by the challenge of discovering the root cause of issues and crafting simple and elegant solutions,

Experience in a non-profit environment
Proficient in Workday HRIS and related systems
HR certification such as PHR, SPHR, CBP or CEBS
